Albuquerque is about a 5.5 hour drive, and El Paso is about a 3.5 hour drive.

The closest large towns to the Finders' Lodge are Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Ruidoso, and El Paso. The small mountain towns of High Rolls and Cloudcroft are about an hour away.

From Albuquerque:

Take I-25 S about 85 miles
Take exit 139 for US-380 E toward San Antonio/Carrizozo .5 mi
Slight left toward US-380 0.3 mi
Continue straight onto US-380 about 65 miles
Turn right at US-54 about 55 miles to Alamogordo

From El Paso:

Take Patriot Frwy/US-54 toward Alamogordo/Ft Bliss
Take US-54 to Alamogordo - about 85 miles
You will leave TX and enter NM...
Turn right at US-54 N/US-70 E/US-82 E

Slight right at US-70 E/US-82 E about 65 miles

From Alamogordo:

If you go slow to enjoy the scenery and to avoid hitting cows, elk, and deer, it will take you about an hour and a half from Alamogordo. You can pick up some groceries at the Lowe's in Alamogordo; there is also a small general store in Cloudcroft that has fresh-baked breads & pies and other items, and in Timberon there are a couple of small general stores with limited hours.

From Alamogordo, NM get to White Sands Blvd heading east or route 54 heading north.
Turn right at US-82 16.2 mi to Cloudcroft Pass through High Rolls... during these 16 miles you will climb from 4300 feet above sea level to almost 9000. It's a steep and winding road and very beautiful. Do it during the day if possible for safety and to enjoy the view. Be careful so your car doesn't overheat!

From Cloudcroft:

Note: Your cell phone will not work once you leave Cloudcroft, there are no towers in Timberon. There is a payphone in Timberon if you should need it.

From Cloudcroft turn right on NM-130
Then a few miles down turn right on NM-6563 (VERY IMPORTANT)
Go about 12 miles to Sunspot (there are two observatories here, a little astronomer's village and vistor's center if you want to explore)
Then go the last 15 miles to Timberon - you'll pass Circle Cross ranch and RV park before you come into town.

Make sure you stop at the scenic lookout to see White Sands...
LOOK OUT FOR COWS, ELK, & DEER ...and bunnies, and coyote, and wild turkey, and porcupines, and bears, and mountain lions... etc.

After you enter Timberon, turn right on Sacramento Drive (paved)
Pass several roads
Turn right at Edgewood Rd. (dirt)
Take the first left at Chresta Loma Dr. (dirt)
